PLEASE STOP The Development at 77th and Division

Dear Stakeholder in Legin Commons,

We are asking you to HALT the development of the VITAL GREEN SPACE at Division and 77th for housing. CEASE & DESIST the destruction. DO NOT remove any more trees, shrubs, asphalt or otherwise. HALT ALL ACTIONS!

There is so little green space in this neighborhood. Losing this green space and the 20 trees being cut down will gravely hamper the quality of life for an entire community. It is a vital respite spot. Please leave the trees and this vital greenspace be. It is an important part of this community! We as a community will gladly take over its care.

There is a far better and more visionary location for this housing on the north side of the campus -- the unused parking from 80th to 82nd. In addition to more room for the housing and more parking, it offers the chance to create a landmark in the community to honor the Asian community in a deeper way than just a name on a building. 

By moving the housing over 500 yards or so, we can create a large plaza along 82nd with public art and a covered market and community area with pagoda style pavilions that honor the Jade District. There is ample parking for weekend events, and still parking for the church next door.

Together, we can create something truly spectacular for the entire community - the existing community and the families and individuals who will live in this complex. All deserve a hearty green space. 

Please let's move the complex off the green space and over to the north end of the campus. Please! It's a much more suitable location, and this creates an opportunity for greatness! Let's create a landmark on 82nd to honor the Jade District, its history and its future. Please look at an alternate plan at savethegreenspaceat77th.org
